On Tuesday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initiated the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics. The centreaims to be the "National Weather Service for infectious diseases," assisting decision-makers at all levels on broad public health issues such as vaccine development and antiviral deployment, as well as assisting individuals in determining whether it is safe to go outside.

The researchers calculated the severity of the Omicron variety, as well as the timing and impact of the surge in the United States, in the months since the centre′s plans were initially disclosed. Predict, inform, and innovate are three primary areas of concentration for the new forecasting and analytics centre.

The centre also would form its outbreak analytics team, which would be responsible for developing models and forecasts that will allow taking quick action and collaborative decision-making, as well as a team of people who can effectively communicate these insights to the public sector, private sector, and general public.

Pandemics endanger and adversely affect communities and the whole society at great speed, and the medical response must match that pace. Hence, the Center would be helpful to provide communities with essential information so that we can respond quickly and effectively. (CNN, April 19, 2022)
